Dezzi manufactures machines for all industries

The Desmond Group of companies, has been in business since 1973, and are renowned for the manufacturing of South African designed Dezzi earthmoving equipment; the first front-end loader rolled off the assembly line in 1996.

Desmond Equipment SA (Dezzi’s) head office and factory is based on the south coast in Port Shepstone, and aftermarket service is offered nationwide in southern Africa into sub-Saharan Africa with strategically placed branches and dealers.

The South African machines manufactured by Dezzi include:

  • Rigid hauler tractors;
  • Front-end loaders;
  • Skidders;
  • Cane loaders;
  • Motor grader;
  • Three-wheel loggers; and
  • Trailers and customized attachments.

Testament to the success of the companies’ products are the amount of repeat orders from existing customers and the database of new customers growing monthly. The benefit of having the manufacturing plant in South Africa, is that customers, even from sub-Saharan Africa can tour the factory, and discuss, with Dezzi engineers, customised machines and attachments that will meet their needs. These machines are earmarked for the cane, forestry, sugar, plant hire, construction, building, mining and quarrying industries.

Proven components, such as JCB, Deutz and Cummins engines, complemented by ZF transmissions and axles, as well as Dezzi’s own designed parts, are giving these machines an edge in the market.

In addition to the machines manufactured, Desmond Equipment SA is the sole distributor of the Dezzi CMI backhoe loader that has established itself as a serious contender in the market.

The Dezzi CMI 883 backhoe loader was first launched in South Africa in 2017. It was evident at the launch, that the newcomer would make waves in the backhoe industry, when the first consignment had already been sold before they docked in South Africa. 

Since then, the backhoe loaders market share is growing at a rapid pace.

Customers feedback is that they favour the backhoe loader because of the ZF rear and front axle. The tried and tested Tier II Perkins engine, complemented by ZF transmissions, which offers four forward gears and four reverse gears with a maximum travelling speed of 40km/h. The Perkins engine offers 74,5kW at 2 200rpm.
